Cover your car while parking on city streets

Some people wonder how come Jake’s Ford F-150 looks spotless despite being parked out on the city streets, while his BMW M3 gets to park under a roof. People figure that he washes and waxes his truck on a daily basis to keep it spotless, ageless,  and shiny.

It’s nearly impossible to keep a car clean while parking it overnight in the open air. The combination of paint and plastic damaging UV rays, pollution, dust, bird droppings, and condensation will weather any vehicle. Damage to the car from nature is only part of the story. Door dings from people being dropped off next to the car, cars running into the plastic painted bumpers while parallel parking behind and in-front of the car, adding to the damage.

Ultimately, the best solution is to move to a house with a car garage or an apartment with a car port. In reality, not everyone has that option. That’s why a simple car cover usually solves the problem. The issue with conventional car covers is not the protection they provide, but rather the inconvenience of pulling the car cover out of the trunk of the car, placing it on the roof, unfolding, rolling it onto the hood and trunk lid, then securing it to the bumpers. Simply put, car covers can be a shore to put on and remove.

Additionally, putting a cover on a car that is not freshly washed, will cause paint damage in the form of abrasion between the cover, dirt, and paint. Even with fitted car covers, that don’t flop around in the wind as much, they still damage the paint because the cover material come in contact with the dust.

At Car District, we understand that there are many quality vehicle covers out on the market, but car and truck enthusiasts deserve a better solution. Until then, try to “preserve what you drive”.
